What are the Signs of a Failing Car A/C?

Houston, Dallas & San Antonio Auto AC Repair by Caliber Auto Care

During the summertime, car air conditioning is necessary when it comes to your comfort on the road. Getting into your vehicle on a hot summer day and finding that your A/C isn't working properly can make for an unbearable ride. This is why it is helpful to understand the signs of a failing air conditioning system and what you can do to help better maintain the system overall.

What are the signs of a failing car A/C?

  • No air blows out of vents
  • Air isn't cold when turned on Max
  • Air is warm/doesn't get cold at all
  • Strange noises when A/C is turned on
  • Mold/Mildew smell coming from vents

These are the warning signs to look out for that can indicate either your A/C is broken or is going out. As soon as you notice any of these symptoms, the experts here at Caliber Auto Care Centers can help evaluate and repair any issues you may be experiencing.

Typically, we conduct a full inspection of the A/C system to determine where the issue lies. There are many different components to consider and we check the refrigerant as well to make sure it is topped off. Low refrigerant usually only occurs if you have a leak somewhere in the system, so if you have low refrigerant we will need to also check for a leak.

How can you avoid A/C issues and keep your system properly maintained? The best way to avoid an unexpected A/C problem is with regular inspections here at our shop. We recommend an inspection at least once a year so that we can check the components such as the condenser, compressor, blower motor, and more for operation. We also can check for leaks and ensure that your refrigerant is topped off.

We want you to remain cool this summer! If you suspect you need a car A/C service, we invite you into Caliber Auto Care Centers today.
